GNC Weight Gainer power with protein. Whats your opinion?

I was at GNC and noticed that one serving of thier weight gainer has a bout 1800 calories and 50 grams of protein and most protien shakes usually has about that much protein for a serving. You think is benifical to buy the weight gainer as a substitue for a protein shake since it has 50 grams of protein????

    What do you guys think?

i sub n-large weightgainer for regular protein shakes while i'm bulking, but bulk or cut, 1800 calories is too much to take down at once, plus GNC is a rip off neway, go to www.netrition.com and get 10lbs of n-large (30 servings) for 37 bucks. more protein then gnc ****, and it is 600 calories

Not for something like p.w. just because it has fat, sugars, and proteins. Plus, that many calories per serving is exceptionally high. I am against weight gainers just for the simple fact you can't take it and have just pro./fat or pro./carbs.

The protein in a weightgainer may be of lower quality than the protein found in protein suppliments. If you're trying not to put on too much fat then that may not be the best thing in the world to take after a hard workout with all the fat calories, carbs, etc. I don't drink weight gainers at all. I did for a short time when I was in my twenties and late teens, but I was always switching brands because of the bloating, gas, upset stomach, difficulty in mixing and I don't remember what other reasons. And I saw better results with just the protein powder anyway. I would tend to lose weight taking the weightgainers. The one time I did gain weight, it was all fat on my stomach.
