Girlfriend's being a hag NEED HELP!

You read the title...It's beach time soon (Bikini season) and the woman has been cranky. 1 month left and although she is in almost perfect shape (5'6' 116) she wants to drop about 6 lbs primarily in her "hips, butt, and stomach." I just put her on a good clean diet consisting of 5-6 meals a day. I know she's desperate because she has never followed any diet plan. I have her doing am cardio 45 minutes each morning...5 days a week, of course on an empty stomach. I have her lifting weights 3 times a week with me. What excercises should I give her? Should I opt for the 3 hard sets of 10? or 4 medium/light sets of 12? She doesn't mind getting a little muscle and tone. She just wants a smaller frame. Help please! She's starting to get on my nerves. :(

Id say go for the medium/light sets of 12 reps.

I'd tell her to lift as heavy as she can to failure - just like you.

the hell with weights... just pop a viagra and give her 45 minutes of intense cardio ED for two weeks... that ought to do it... ;)

yep, exactly. when cutting I still lift heavy with no issues of loosing muscle. also no spot reduction in those areas you specified. the diet and her cardio is going to be essential. what kind of supplements is she using?

my girlfriend is going through the same stuff. i told mine i dont know why she waits till 2 weeks before summer to start working out

Also, if she works out make sure she has good PWO nutrition, will make a huge difference even for the short term workout. Both my sisters wait till less then a month before bikini season and then workout of only 3 weeks or so. If she wants to tone up then yeah have her lift the same type of weights and reps you are but if she is just looking to lose some winter weight without any muscle gain then cardio along with some minor ab work will get her where she wants to be.

I'm a personal trainer with 4 certifications + 2 dietition certs...but those are bs, just there for show. I've done research at workshops, school, and best off all...here (for 6 years). I have given her the ideal diet which she has been following. She wants tone...doesn't mind gaining some muscle (Which she won't but, i like her enthusiasam...it's different for her.) She wants to grow a smaller frame. I will keep her on max weight intesnsity for 3 sets of 10 on weight training 3 times a week...I have her doing cardio Mon-Fri 45 mins each morning on an empty stomach. She cycles on her bike 15-45 miles on sats, Sundays off Cardio. I am going to have her take flax oil...but what else should i give her? I know plenty about t3/clen combos...I researched about female usage on this , and I know she can handle it both physically and mentally. So the only question with the t3/clen is...should I have her stack them, or only give her t3? I educated her on this and she fully accepts this and promised me she will do EXACTLY what I tell her to do with it (meaning, not taking more then what she should) I appreciate all your guys' imput and I look forward to everything else you guys suggest. I would stay away from the T3, but clen and eca would be ok. You have not listed the diet you have for her but assuming is set up properly she should be able to reach her goals.

I personally thinking adding a little muscle mass to a woman can really improve their look, the V is a good look for men and women. Adding width to the shoulders and back can really make your waist look smaller. So keep her lifting hard and heavy.

well t-3 is a no no! loosing muscle is just going to get her to look like a skinny fat person. does she really want to have flabby grandma arms and legs? why would anyone give out advice to loose muscle? your liver and you lean muscle tissue is what burns the fat off during the day. take it away and it will be harder for her to loose weight or she will just look like a skinny fat chick. clen would be a option. ECA stack would be a option, falx oil, CLA tabs, Aceytl-L carnitine, R-ALA, Biotin. these are all good supplements to aid in fat loss along with a strict diet. post her diet up! you could very well have her diet screwed up and she is not getting into lyposis(SP?) dont give her the misconception that alot of cardio is going to be all she needs to do. there are plenty of people I see in my gym every morning who do hours of cardio and never have a single composition change. One of the main reason why people get discouraged. all work and no results

Depends on her goals, as many women want to workout for just a month or so just before bikini season and then give up till next year. Many women do just aerobics and cardio to maintain what they are looking for, so it does work for some women. Plus bikini time is a tough time for many women who let themselves go over the colder months, they need to lose weight and don't want to commit to much typically and cardio is the best way to do that. Not saying its the case for your gf, just wanted to clarify that in some instances cardio is all that some women are looking for and are happy with the results when others may say that there are "no results". Personally I lift as well cause I like the muscle and there are quite a few women like myself as well. Sounds like she is ok with a little muscle as well as working out as necessary so stick with the workout you have for her.

I would say just clen for now since femals are more prone to side effects then men if she has never done a cycle before keep it just clen for now so you know what is causing any sides. I think clen is all she is going to need anyways from what it sounds like she is looking at short term workout to get into shape, not maintain this workout once she is happy with the way she looks.

Diuretics are one of the most dangerous drugs/supps in bodybuilding when not used correctly. Even when used correctly they still can be potentially harmful. I can name at least 3 ways safer and as effective way to shed water weight in a short time frame. Off of the top of my head some suggestions are high intake of water, nolva, sodium cycling. Actually all said and done it sounds like this guy knows what he's doing. Stick with the good diet, lots of cardio, and intense weight training. If she trully stalls losing weight and making progress naturally...then consider using maybe clen, t-3 to get her past the road block.

the thing is if she is not eating properly all the cardio in the world will not help her. she could do laps around the track untill she falls down having a heart attack. diet is 80-85% of tha game no matter what direction you want to take. I see it all the time, people come up to me at work and ask "I do cardio everyday for an hour and yet I still cant drop weight" or they say to me "why cant I gain any muscle?" first ? I ask is what do you eat?

totally agree that a good clean diet is necessary. i was getting the point across that lifting weights a few times a week is not always necessary depending on goals. Many women just want to lose winter weight and not put on any muscle and have no intention of keeping up the workout. In this case then lifting isn't going to to much good. I know over a dozen women (family & friends) who are naturally thin that just have 5-10 lbs or so they want to shed before putting on a bikini. None of them would ever lift weights, but the cardio and good diet will get them where they want to be in a few weeks time. Then they give up till next year before bikini time.

Of course if she wanted to put on some muscle then should would definatly want to be lifting as well.

to reitterate everyone.. DIET is the key.. you can always try the way i lost weight so fast.. now of course I lost way moer then 6 lbs.. but it's always worth a try

cardio and diet are going to get her where she wants to go... but why not add lifting in there.. I suggest different from everyone else.. lighter weight but more reps.. but she should not be able to do 20 in a set.. probably a pyramid of 12 10 8.. make sure the cardio is in the morning on an empty stomach..

and next time tell her to start working on this in feb or else you will duct tape her mouth shut so she cant complain.. lol

cardio is all great but using weight to just shape and tone what muscle she does have would be better. just cardio alone is fine and dandy but it just makes a skinny fat person. she doesnt need to build muscle at all. If she did, she would have to eat for it! but if she wants to cut she still needs the anabolic properties of resistance training. resistance training or even circuit training will burn more calories than just the cardio. If her goal is fat loss, than cardio and circuit training would get her to her goal alot quicker plus she would look and feel a hell of a lot better than just being a skinny fat chick

Agreed if the person is fat to begin with, but the guy who orginally posted says that is gf if 116LB 5'6" and wants to lose about 6LB which is not very much and means she just wants to lose some winter weight. Kind of a moot point though anyways since he said in a later post that she is interested in lifting. Combination of clean diet, cardio and lifting are best for those of us that have the motivation to do so. I can't even imagine being like those people that have no desire to be in shape and don't work out a few days a week. Never have been much of a couch potato :spudnikli

Yeah, I know the diet is key but she's being difficult...She wants results within 3 weeks now but her diet isn't as strict as it should be. She is so difficult. I don't know what to do. I show her examples through my personal training clients, and she has good intentions, but she's still not sticking to my diet plan. Plain and simple, She's driving me nuts.

yeah thats how many women are this time of year, don't actually want to workout or follow any special diets. what can i say, not all of us are into lifting, cardio and clean diets :)

anyways, since she wants results now and doesn't want to do much for it... get her on the cardio, empty stomach preferable. i know some of the people on here are going to say, she needs to lift to, but the plain and simple fact is she just wants to tone up and not maintain a fitness program. if you design somthing too strict she will give up on it. cardio is the key, i have worked with many women who are the same way and getting them to do cardio is a whole lot easier then getting them to follow a lifting routine.

with regards to the diet, if you aren't doing it yet, start preparing meals for her like breakfast on weekends and dinners. my bf is one of those people who wants to lose weight and wants it done now but doesn't actually want to workout or eat a clean diet, so what i have done is prepare all dinners and prepare large dinners so there is enough for leftovers every night that he can take for lunch the next day. i usually have enough so that there are a couple of choices in the frideg in containes ready for him to grab and go in the morning. also, for breakfasts, make something that she likes that would get her eating something fairly health, i make fat free cornbread as my bf likes it and if nothing is there then he will eat mcdonalds for breakfast.

go on walks with her at night, this will at least get her out and moving if she doesn't want to put the extra effort into it. my bf could not stick to a diet after trying for years and after i started to do this for him, he lost 60LBs.

She's doing a 3 day lift program accompanied by 6 days of cardio on an empty stomach A.M.

sounds like you have her on a good routine if she will stick to it. with regards to the diet, try and follow my tips of cooking for her and making large enough meals so there are leftovers around. the easier it is to eat clean the better the chances are she will follow the diet. also, i don't plan in advance my cheat meals cause i want to be free to pig out or eat anything i want if the desire is there so if she is having problems with the diet, keep it clean but if she decides to have a pizza for lunch or something then just let it go and keep on cooking clean that way she picks her own cheat meal without even realizing it.
