Thats ok I guess. Lately ive been resting based on my heartrate. if its beating normally, ill start the next set. if im out of breath ill usually wait alittle longer

As for rest periods between sets, I would say 5 mins is too much unless you are working in a 2-4 rep range or attempting a max single. If you find you need 5 mins to get a target number of reps at a given weight I would slowly work the rest period downward until you can do the same set/rep scheme with a 3 to 3.5 minute rest interval.Originally Posted by doby48
