When to cut is a personal decision and may be based upon vacations, summer-time, contests, pics, etc. So it really depends on long term/short term goals. Before you do decide to cut, go through a maintenance phase. If not, you will drop weight extremely too fast and lose most of your gains.

Your body strives to be in homeostasis. If you put on 20 pounds in 6-8 weeks, then immediately cut, your body will do its ****est to return to your initial starting weight.
