I do shrugs all the time, and my gym that i work out at doesn't have one of those neck machines, so my question is, how do i add on good size to my neck/traps, and what exercises between shrugs/variations of shrugs, should i do?

bump, come on some has to know a good mass building neck exercise besides shrugs.

Paddler, what I do bro is get a 45lb plate, put a towel across it and laying on a bench put it on all 4 sides of my head and do 3 sets 10-12 reps each. It has worked pretty good. Nautilaus makes a good machine but not all gyms have them. peace.

Neck
Ok here is a sure winner,
First off go to the Smith machine. Stand with the bar behind you and grap the bar with your hands. ( Did I mention to adjust the bar so that it rest about waist high) Ok with a limited amount of weight until you get a "feel" for the movement, try lifting the bar up as high as you can. Alomost like you are trying to bring your elbows up level with your ears.
Another one is if you have a cybex amchine you can adjust the peck deck to aloow the arms toward the back. You are basically doing a peck deck in reverse sitting on it backwards and pulling y our arms out hrizontally.

at my old gym they had this strap of sort that you connected to the low cable
it fit your head, so u just sat down and bent over workin your neck in all different directions, used it for HS wrestling made my neck fat as hell
look for one, i currently am
