Should I take every set?
Should I take every set?
I do..think its a waste if you don't
Why wouldnt you want to push your muscles to their max potential. If you dont go in to the unknown you will never know what is there.
In a word....no. Working to failure can be a nice change of pace but certainly not something I would do each and every workout and/or set.
In a nutshell for many reasons... no
If you do, just realize that it will take longer to recover and you will not be able to train as frequently.
i second that as well.Originally Posted by chicamahomico

i would do my first set to failure and then work on things close to failure rest of the way.
ex. bench start with bench press, keep it (4-6, if i am trying to get mass) and have 3 sets of those (make sure you have a buddy)
then incline dumbell press a reps of 10, and 2-3 sets. and then decline flies reps of 10, 2-3 sets. oh yea those reps of 10 should be semi-uncomfortable, but not easy.
thats just an example but thats how i have been doing my workouts and they have been great.
i think it is good for a change once in a while to provide shock to the muscles
