How to spare the supraspinatus working out chest/shoulders ?

I've got a small tear in the attachment of my Supraspinatus

I'm looking for CHEST and SHOULDER exercises that will spare the lil bastard
but still have a good chest/shoulder workout.
(btw, I can train the posterior shoulder muscle without any trouble)

In my experience, whenever I have had a strain in the supraspinatus (although not a tear), I have been unable to raise my shoulder out to the front or side. The problem is it seems no matter what the weight or movement used, the stupid thing contracts and gets knackered anyway and feels really tight afterwards.

Maybe decline close grip benchpresses would be okay since the shoulder is not raised to such a high angle and there is less stress placed on the back and traps. Standing shoulder exercises or incline put a lot of stress on the rotator cuff to hold the shoulder in place stabilised

The supraspinatus muscle is used in every single movement of your arm. It is called the "steering muscle" of the shoulder because without it your humerus would fall out of the socket in the scapula. I think a lot of exercises will cause pain but definitely avoid maximal lateral rotation of the shoulder and abduction.
