what is a good workout log?
something to write in progress and such. the body for life is good but you have to do they workouts they say.

A good workout log, you mean what to write down? The day obviously, the exercises, sets, reps, total time, time between sets, and maybe a brief comment about how you felt about the workout. That kind of thing...

why spend $10 in a bookstore for one that has some useless workout already in it when you can get a blank notebook and a pen for 50 cents
