IMO abs can be done ED or EOD as long as you're not sore. Your abs recover FASTER then most other muscle groups. I use the 1/2 ball and balance myself on or around the small of my back and raise my lower body and upper body at the same time (similar to pilates) doing 5 sets of 20.

I never did them. I just diet and when I'm lean enough....boop! There it is! I never see intercostals though. I guess I'd have to work them.

I work them once every 6 days and that is all they need. IMO they are like any other muscle and need time to recoup IF you are hitting them properly and with the intencity they need.
I don't understand the idea behind working them Ed or EOD?? Would you work bi's ED or EOD? or Calves? come on.. if you do it right you dont need to hit any muscle that often.
Of course this is my opinion not flaming anyone

I just recently started training them again, and I like doing them once a day, since they never get soar. One program I have found to get me soar every now and then, now bear with me and keep the laughter to a murmor, is 8 minute abs. Its a pretty sweet little tape and if you get used to doing it once you can always turn it into 16 min abs, which isnt for the faint of heart. Also if any of you care, it can be found for free on limewire.

I only work abs near time of competition. They get more than enough work doing squats, bent barbell rows, deadlifts ect..honestly I don't know many BBers that do abs year round.

I train my abs/obliques two times per week. I work in sagittal plane (abs) on Mondays and the transverse or frontal plane (obliques) on Thursdays. I don't train them for appearance, more for function.
