    Leg Press Depth

Ok...gotta question. How far down do you go on leg press.....i say as deep as you COMFORTABLY can (meaning without stressing your knees or lower back). My buddy on the other hand claims like 6 inches of sled movement is enough which isnt even enough to make your calves and hamstrings hit 90 degrees. I personally go until my quads hit my chest. Anyone else have any input on this?

i do slightly more than 90 degrees....it is more than enough to hit those quads hard...

letting your quads hit your chest is dangerous, your range of motion will end up causing you trouble in the long run. you may feel going down farther is better, or works you out more, but its also over using muscles you don't need to be putting a tremendous amount of stress on. i say better safe than sorry.

yea.. it doesnt hurt your knees... and this is why.. a lot of ppl believe that by flexing your knees its putting stress on the ligaments within your knee joint.. NOT TRUE.. it actually puts them in a lax position - really! look it up. As for your back.. if the press is good.. then your back should be supported.. everyone has a natural lumbar curve but just do the press properly.. lift with your legs... you can tell when you start arching your back to lift the weight.. just stop when it gets to that point.
