what do you think of this training style?

i went training with a friend who is a pt so i am assuming he knows what hes doing, plus hes got some good size to him as well. yesterday went for a shoulder and tricep workout and this is what we did...

    d/b shoulder press 5 x 6-8 reps
    machine shoulder press 5 x 6-8 reps
    military press 5 x 6-8 reps
ez bar shoulder raise 5 x 6-8 reps
long bar front lateral raise 5 x 6-8 reps
    d/b side lateral raise 5 x 6-8 reps
    machine post. delt 5 x 6-8 reps

skull crusher into close grip bench (0 rest) 6 x 6-8 reps for each
    weighted dips 6 x 6-8 reps
    tricep pushdown 6 x 6-8 reps
    single arm tri pushdown 6 x 6-8

all sets were done with 1:00-1:30 mins rest and with heavy weight so would rarely hit 8 reps usually 6-7 (so obv all sets to failure) and if hit 4 or less would drop weight and hit another set straight out for like 10

it did feel good and well intense but is this not overtraining? i would like to train like this but to my knowledge seems to much? it took a good hour and half i think.

From my experience - shoulders need at least 10 reps of tension to grow - but every BODY is different... as long as you progress your on key. I just can't generate an increase in limit strength when I go to low in reps...

The deal with the delts is they are so heavily recruited - mine are contracting simply by typing this. They generally need some good time under tension... if you only give tem 6-8 reps I would suggest a nice and slow tempo at least... like no faster than 4-0-2-0... that would give you 36-48 seconds of tension per rep... which is okay - assuming you don't lock out and keep it moving...

being a pt means nothing i know a ton of pt and they havent a clue!
35 sets is a joke i have never seen some one do that many with big shoulders.
3 pressing movements is not needed 1 will do just fine.quality is what you want not quantity.also your reps need to be higher for delts in order to isolate them and take the back out of the equation(on presses)
