    PLYOMETRICS

i have answered this a dozen times.go back and read some old posts.great vertical leapers and sprinters have GREAT REACTION TIME!!!NOT HUGE MUSCLES!!!!(sure they may have muscular bulids but thats' not even half of what makes them what they are).anyone who tells you different is an idiot.you need plyometrics not huge legs and calves right now.squat all you want, if your reaction time sucks so will your times or heights.

    oh

and your power muscles for spriting and vertical leap are in your ass and hamstrings.you need an excellent plant foot to be an explosive leaper.you last three steps make up your jump.step 3(your shoulders should be square) step 2(you should be hitting your plants foot by rolling off your heel onto your front foot).people make the mistake of actually planting the foot and not rolling of the heel.if you plant it, you negate all positive energy toward the ground and not up(vertically).you last step is not a step but a knee drive just above parallel to the ground.lead the jump w/ your chest and shoulders square.arms should be controlled.eyes are on your target.if you are a highjumper, you should have your eyes on the opposite crossbar post(this is what helps to square your shoulders.now this is how you execute a proper jump.now if someone tells you teh squat your brains out of do calves raises to you fall down, tell them to come see me and i'll jump over the fuckign house to prove them wrong.i have trained 3 state HJ champions.i was a hs(state, shore conference, county),college(Div 1), TAC,junior development, and nike tour, HJ and 110HH champion.still coach and train

I would have to recommend squatting your brains out and doing calf raises till you fall down.

Yeah- what Partyboy said. I wuz just jerking his chain on my post. Somebody taking it seriously though makes it about 10 times better

    What does plyometric mean though?

But just to help you out Muscle- a buddy of mine was on the Canadian ski jumping team and he did about infinity squats at the gym. And "hops" I believe he called them. I can't quite remember exactly what they were- the name tells you about as much as I can remember. ( I think they're like jump-rope without the rope)

Yeah that fucker was about 150 soaking wet- and did squats with well over 500lbs....

To tell you the truth though I don't know if he was actually any good at jumping though....

    Plyometric ehhhh??
