    Specific Trap Development Question

Hey bros, my roommate was wondering if there was an exercise he could add to his back day that would specifically help target his upper traps for growth. he has a solid back routine already but is there any specific exercise that helps the traps grow in a more vertical fashion? thanks for any responses. nOva

Shrugs and dead's hit the traps. But if its only traps your looking for I'd recommend shrugs. Your going to have to see if high reps, low reps or a mix of both.

thanks a lot for the replies guys, he is doing all of the above and i already told him to change up the rep range and try supersets...sorry to badger with this question, but i just don't know the answer...is there an exercise that creates a more vertical trap? i know what targets the traps, but he was just wondering if there was an exercise to help them stand vertical...thanks again bros

Neck machine, neck machine and more neck machine, then do some barbell and dumbell shrugs, do the dumbell to the sides and make sure you are keeping your chin tucked through the whole movement.

dumbell to the sides? i don't understand that one, do you mean keep the dumbell at our side as opposed to say in front of you? just trying to clear that one up...

try doing dumbbell shrugs whil sitting down its a lot harder than youd think. I always tell people to do this(the ones who grab 100's and can barely get it up after they use their whole body) and they get all pissed cuz they can't do anything close to that

I've done those - and you're absolutely right! I used to get so mad that I wasn't getting the heavier weight, I quit doing them.

(Eventually came to my senses and picked them up again)
