Thread: freeweights vs. bowflex(machines)??

    freeweights vs. bowflex(machines)??

    I know eveyone I speak to say 'free weights' are the best to use, my buddy has a Bowflex. Would that help any? I've always used free weights. Any people ever use the Bowflex machine? Just wondering...thanks

    With the use of gear...would it be best to hit free weight than machine??

    Bowflex is okay for an old person...I suppose it is better than nothing...but no do not use gear if you even have to ask this question...your not ready

    I agree with chest here on that one, and you can only go so far with a bowflex, its really hard to gain some good mass with bowflex only.

    i use one..and im doing fine..although..i might run out of weight at some point..thats the draw back

    free weights are the way to go, work more stabalizing muscles, general overall strength gains

    Free Weights all the way buddy. Ok to use machines for isolation type exercises i.e. flys

    Free weights are GREAT.
    Machines are GOOD.
    A bowflex is worthless.

    Also, like others said, if you are asking this question you are very unfamiliar with proper training and nutrition...you do not need juice, you need knowledge and experience.

    Actually the only equipment you need is a barbell if you want to get big and strong. Dumbbells are very useful too tho. BP, SQ, DL, rows, curls, presses, and much more. Bowflexs are crap. Ive heard companies make those machines b/c actual weights are so expensive to ship.

    Ive also heard bad things about safety on bowflexes...like when your doing a lat row(or whatever cant think right now) something breaks and it comes down hard and hits you er something...I wouldnt trust anything but a power rack with lots o bolts

    my dad just got a blowflex...bu the is almost 50 and just wants to lose some weight he has had a good diet and works out 3 times aweek for 45 mins on it..and has lost 25 pounds in like a month so for an old fart who doesnt want to leave home its better then nothign...but the only thing i use it for is i throw some ab exercises in it that will be all my friends hahah
