    Negative Pullups?

    Hi, how is everyone?

I am new to weights and stuff, i just wondered how well negative pullups work, i have read a fair bit on them today and they seem to do the trick in actually helping to be able to build strength in doing normal pullups.

I struggle to do more than 4 pullups at the moment, so was thinking of doing as many negatives as i can when i do them, and then try to move up to normal pullups again in a few weeks to see if i have progressed, and if so, by how much.

Do they work, have they worked for anyone on here?

    Thank you.

what's your goal? are you just trying to increase your pullup #?

negatives work, well, just don't do them all the time.

you wont gain much from pullups alone, it is also down to the rest of your workout. I take it you are working the rest of yourself as well. But like the other dude said, dont do them all the time. At my gym we have one of them pull up assist machines which help lift you and as you grow stronger you can reduce the weight which is helping you up. I used one succesfuly for a while.

    i agree

if you are trying to increase the amount of pull ups you can do i'd suggest doing as many non-assisted pullups as you can then use the assist until you reach 10...do this for 4 sets, eventually you won't need to use the assist at all

negatives every once in a while won't hurt. but you need to use an assister machine and do sets of...many... you will be able to do...many... unassisted after practice dedication and (sadly) time.
