Belt for deads?
I've given up the belt recently when sqatting. Does anyone here not use a belt while deadlifting?

I dont use a belt unless Im going for my 2-3 rep max, because if you cant handle the weight you shouldnt be doing it

i have a screwed up back from previous car accidents and stuff, but i still only use it on my heaviest sets of triples or singles. those arent really enough reps to stimulate growth i dont think, and since i am trying to increase strength i dont think the belt takes away from it.
that being said...if i didnt have to use it,i wouldnt. if my back feels good i will drop it

I haven't used a belt yet... for deads I warm up with sets of 6 reps starting with the bar and two plates... for me I add two plates between warm ups until I get near my target weight... however if form breaks at any time (back rounds) that is the end. I only do one working set of 6-8 with my target weight. It has worked for me. This is DC style training for Deads.

i actually no longer own a training belt. i injured my back when i was 16, and when id got it sorted 6 months later, i took to wearing a belt for EVERY exercise apart from abs. one day i read an article advising trainers not to wear belts too much, and i gradually stopped using the belt completely. i love heavy deads and squats, 405lbs deads for 5 reps and 405lbs squats for 3 reps, and i havent had even a twinge in my back for ages

i think everybody is different, and it boils down to this, use it only if you sacrifice form and increase the chance of injury without it!
