Wink Where can I find a PT that will put me through my paces

Just wondering if anyone knows how to find a personal trainer that will kick a*s!
Are there any webistes that I could check out for my area - my local gyms all have weedy PT's and not to be dis-respectfull but I think I probably know more about training than they do!

    Thanks
    J

as far as the website suggested, i just don't think a website will do. you need someone watching you during your sets to make sure you have proper form and tracking your progress, making necessary adjustments along the way. a website just can't do that.

an important thing to look at when deciding on a trainer is their certification. there is a basic, advanced, and masters for almost every company out there. the company they're with is important too, saying as some will give these guys "open book" tests over the internet, basically handing them a certification without any effort on their part other than reading from the book and typing it on their keyboard. ace, issa, ifpa (advanced cert or higher) are all pretty decent choices. not sure if those companies are around where you're at, but hopefully they are and that will help you out.

one issue you'll run into about local trainers is if you're already in a gym, they're not going to just let any trainer come into their gym and train you. they're going to want you training with one of their current trainers. you could always see if they offer any free trial sessions with trainers for newcomers or training orientations, as many do. if not, compare rates of trainers and try to just do a 1/2 hour session with them. sit with them first and ask them what their training includes to see how knowledgeabe they actually sound. good luck and if you have any other questions let us know.
