Do you lower intensity or volume when cutting up?

Just wondering when it comes to your weight training when cutting up, do you cut down your intensity or your volume?

i've always cut down my volume personally because i figure that too much tearing down of the muscles from a lot of training will be too much for the muscles to recover from during the calorie deficit you're in while cutting. during cutting up, the intention is to preserve muscle while losing fat, so i drop a bit of volume as i know i can't really hope to build much muscle if any while cutting anyway, just maintain. if too much muscle breakdown occurs, the muscles can easily go catabolic from the lack of calories to help build back up.

my intensity however usually remains the same. my reasoning behind this is because i figure my cns shouldn't have much harder of a time recuperating neurologically to the workout when the calories are cut. i figure the calorie deficit would have some impact, but not so much as for a need to cut down the intensity on top of the volume as well.

well, if anyone has any studies, research, or personal experience that would indicate a better option here, i'm all ears. thanks.

ahhhhh good post and so true... i experimented with true cutting for the first time... i kept training the same and found i got MUCH sorer... almost to the point of muscle tears if that makes sense.... well i got down to a reasonable BF and decided to up the cals back to about 2600-2800 a day...all extremley clean... im eating like i would be cutting ie the brown rice and chicken... just more of it....i ultimaltey made the decision trainingis more importan than getting to single digit BF...plus i need more development

yep, nice post, bump for all inputs.

Im bulking now, and doing heavy 6-8 reps.

I figured when cutting I should shoot for a lighter 12-15 reps.
