Fed up with pain of knees from leg exercises, need help!

First off im 19 but my knees are making me feel like im 59. I swear to god im about to blow up right now !!! Everytime i do squats...lunges..or quads my F'n knees hurt like no other. It pissed me off so much tonight at that gym that it was feeding into my workout and i was hoping my knees would just fall off. I was trying to hurt myself cause i was so pissed off that this wont go away. Its been like this for months. Ive taken time off, didnt work.

The exercises that hurt the most are heavy squats and leg extensions. Leg extens. are the worst by far, cant even do like 40 pounds without my knee banging.

Its just annoying as hell and wont go away. What could be causing this pain?? I need to be able to do legs for football or some exercises... SHould i just do really really light weight?? I feel like im not improving when I do that though.

    ANy help would be great!

Sounds a little bit like patello-femoral pain.

This can occur in one or both knees and it is one of the most common causes of knee pain. Patello-femoral pain is felt in the front of the knee and occurs when the patella is compressed against the femoral groove. The compression forces causes the the knee to bend further and as a result pain usually increases as well. Therefore, patello-femoral pain can be aggravated by activities that involve repetitive bending of the knee. Pain is often felt going up or down stairs or after sitting for long periods of time. Knee pain can be accompanied by "clicking" or "grinding" and sometimes by a feeling that the knee "catches" or wants to "give way".

    SYMPTOMS OF KNEE PAIN

Pain and occasionally redness and swelling around the patellar.

    CAUSES OF KNEE PAIN

Patello-femoral pain describes the location of the pain but not its cause. Overuse ("too much, too soon") or previous injury to the knee are common causes of knee pain. Biomechanical factors such as poor tracking of the patella in the femoral groove, flat (pronated) feet, weak inner thigh muscles and tight outer thigh muscles and/or ligaments can also cause patellofemoral pain. Sometimes "wear and tear arthritis" (osteoarthritis) or damage to the articular cartilage (chondromalacia) on the back of the patella causes the pain but in most cases of patellofemoral pain the knee joint is normal.

buy a solid set of knee wraps and some glucosamine, chondritin and msm. this helped me a TON! i had some serious knee issues from powerlifting, i started to use the wraps more often and supplemented and the pain stoped. i have been competing for 11 years and training for 15,and with the wraps and the supplements i feel brand new and good for another 15 or so years!

i know u should use knee wraps if ur knees bother u but should i use them even if they feel fine without wraps just to prevent anything from happening? EDIT: Are there any downsides to wearing knee wraps when ur knees arent hurt?

if you would have asked me this 3 years ago , i would have said it was a bad idead, because the knee wraps would give you added strength of the wraps and possibly effect your strength gains and size. today i believe the exact opposite, as long as you dont wrap the knees excessively tight, you wont get crazy rebound out of the wraps , therefore it wouldnt effect leg size or strength. preventitive knee care is a great idea, you only get one real set of knee joints. i recomend it and now practice it the majority of my squat workouts.better safe than sorry
