    cardio after a workout?

im am currently on a cycle, and have some nights where my sleep is quite poor. i do cardio in the moringing once a week but i would like to add some more. I'd prefer to no do ne more sessions in themoring as i try to enjoy the nights i get a good sleep.
i train at about 4ish in the after noon, can anyone tell me a good time to add some cardio into my routine? maybe after a workout?

I'd do cardio, but I wouldn't run if you are trying to keep lean mass and keep bodyfat at bay. You'll be running off all your gains.

Yo can do cardio after your workout most people do 30-45. Some ppl do 60 only when pre-comp. But Stayinstacked is an advocate of after workout cardio.

Stayinstacked is also suspended for being a dickhead.

Take what he advocates w/a grain of salt because his reasoning is flawed on many a level.

Cardio a.m. totally sets the tone for me the rest of the day.

I dunno, my work ethic is far above average though, so kids don't try this at home.

Well, I never run for cardio, so you may very well run circles around me during cardio time.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend running anymore than I would recommend eating 100 calories a day. Gets your HR up too high. Run on empty..and thats even more problems

I find it hard to do cardio in the morning too, mainly cause when i wake up i'm so hungry that the last thing i wanna do is spend 40 minutes on a recumbent bike exerting more energy on an empty stomach, but i always force myself to do it atleast 2-3times a week in the morning cause i know its whats best and what will provide the best results, but every now and then if i wanna do cardio for a 4th or 5th time that week i will find myself doing it later in the day on days i work and am not prepared to wake up at 4am just to burn some extra fat alway.

I've always been told ( on this board ) to do cardio immediately after a workout for glycogen reasons and its most effective, other than first thing in the morning. I can't do it in the morning either, because if I drive to the gym, do cardio, come home to eat, to turn around and go back to lift....just doesn't work. I usually eat breakfast, then go to the gym, lift, and then do 30 min cardio walking on incline @ 3.5mph.

why not do something like the stair mill? - I am not an advocate of cardio because i don't want to lose weight but still feel some resistence in my legs with the stair mill on a high intensity after my weight training.

IMHO cardio is very important. Why?, because when your cardiovascular fit your heart & lungs work more efficiently thereby suppling your muscles with a large amount of oxigen quicker.

Sorry, but most people do not do cardio after a workout. In fact, there are numerous posts on here the will advise against doing cardio after a workout. IMO it would be very foolish to do

    cheers

Probably best that everyone just experiment and find what works best.

I don't do cardio after working out, nor do I recommend this for my clients.

Again, we all have our own personal preferences/goals.

When you do cardio, the type I muscle fibers use the blood sugar that the type II fibers need to replenish their glycogen stores. Therefore you need to replenish asap after your workout so you don't deplete them even more.

this is outdated. there is alot of information in the diet forum that will refute this all together.
