What should my squat be? Bench 300 - 5'11 185pounds

Ill admit, I have neglected my legs and because of it I suffer from chickenlegenitus. I'd like to really start working towards some legs goals. I am 5'11 @ 185 pounds (Ive been up to 200 and have cut back down to my current weight). I am happy where I am currently at, but I'd really like to add mass, but even more so, strength to my legs. What is a realistic goal for squats be? Like I said, I currently bench a little over 300 pounds.

Is there any bench to squat or bodyweight to squat ratio?

    Ditto.

Put 300 lbs on the bench and it'll bury me

Put 500 lbs on the bar and i'll deadlift it... Heck i'd risk squatting that shit too

My advice? Stop talking about it.. and go cure that chickenlegitis!!! HELL YEA!

like they all said, you have to assess what works for you...start light and work your way up every consequetive session until you hit a weight that is challenging, yet doable and gives hell to your legs...

but especially with squats....watch the FORM!!! You got that down, thats half the battle won my friend!

I think if you could bench 300lbs for a 185lbs guy, you are relatively strong, you should at least be able to squat 350 for reps.

Make sure you don't get careless...don' be one of those people who works the weakest muscles at the end of their routine and causes a lagging effect due to their own neglect...it can happen to the best of people

The biggest thing you need to get is good form. Practice squats w/ 135lbs your first session for high reps, and just train yourself to keep your head up, back straight, and legs to break paralel. I say break parallel because just learning, if you try to go just parallel you think you are but your not. Get a feel for the exercise, from where the bar falls comfortable between your shoulder blades, to a stance width you feel confident with. DO NOT worry about the weight, you'll go up fast enough practicing it right.

well I think I'm pretty symmetrical. I'm 6'2 245lbs righ now... I maxed out @ 425lbs on bench (but i got tendonitis and a pinched nerve in my shoulder so I'm doing more isolation exercises now) and for squat I'm planning on hitting 595lbs for 6 reps this wednesday!
