I do both in my workout as well. I do change things up approx every 6 weeks but I feel the most in my back when I do wide grip chin-ups and close grip pull downs.

I read a post that said to flex your lats before you excorsize so that you can make the connection as to where you should feel all the work happening also using straps and imagining that you are pulling with your elbows works.

get some straps and take a looser grip and try.

Close grip chins. More range of natural motion. I like weighted negatives as well. IMHO, Wide grip pullups are an antique technique.

Wide grips are the best for lat development...far superior than normal chins, and in no way antique.

they are great, use hooks or wraps and release and stretch so that the lats are hit at their lowest point on your back..

Until you can add more weight you won't get more strength.. remember high reps rule..
