    returning to squats kills

i used to do squats when i was younger but i put them aside cause i didnt have proper spots ect and didnt wanna kill myself.. seen too many people in the gym hurt themself, so i just been using machines and barely doing my legs cause they are in good standing. and i did squats first time in over 2 years.. and i did 1 set and my legs r sore 2 days later.. discuss!!! squats make the man and now im 18 i must do them.... anybody who actually dosnt do squats? because i gains are going to fly straight up now that i started

The only reason you shouldn't squat is if the Doc tells you not too. If you don't squat your a pussy!!!!

Can I ask what a proper squat schema is for sheer mass? Leg Size? I typically do something like:

    12,10,8,5-6,5-6 then back to 12

wondering if 5x5 every once a mnth may be a good idea?

I use a rep scheme much like you outlined and once a month I throw in all high reps light weights for a change.
