I hurt my right pec benching today

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this.
I was benching today warmed up with 3 sets of 140 for about 15-20 reps
than I put on 215 and done 12 reps next set was 240 for 8 reps than I went back down to 215 and on my 7th rep I felt and I think I even heard like a tear or something that went from my middle of my right pec up to my collar bone and I did do 2 more reps after that but I definatly was weaker and it hurt but kinda had this numb feeling in it.I tried to do light DB incline presses but it just wasnt right it felt weird and kind of out of control so I stopped doing them.I done some smith machine shrugs and my whole right upper chest and collar bone area hurt.It definatly is sore. just wondering what to expect in the next couple of days.thanks

Take an anti-inflammatory like ibuprophin three times a day. If you see bruising and or discoloration or major swelling then see a doctor. Regardless of the extent of your injury, I would give a min. of 2-3 weeks of rest for your chest.

Thanks guys, It is still pretty sore prety much around my shoulder and collar bone and into my chest. dont see any swelling right now or bruising. It will be a pain sleeping tonight am sure hopefully it isnt anything bad.Would hate to interupt my lifting but it may be a sign to concentrate on my abs, leggs and cutting. thanks again.

Just take it easy for a few days on the chest. If it was something major i am sure that 215 would have came crashing down on you.

DOnt mess with this. I have partically torn my pec 3 times. The second and third were just reagrivating it months after. Only thing that made it better was to take a month off..and also..Barbell Flat bench is evil

Well I tried for the first time since injuring my pec well am not sure if it is even my pec now.It seems that it is my collar bone right above my right pec. almost seems like it is cracked or something. It is swollen some right at the bone at the top of my pec by my neck. there is a bump and a dip and another bump. It even feels like my shoulder is lil messed up also.I tried to bench 135pounds today just to see how it would feel but there was no way soon as I started to lower it I could feel alot of pain so I just put it back. Not sure if its just muscle or a tenden or if the bone broke or cracked. When ever I would bench before this it always took alot of warming up before I could bench without it feeling uncomfortable.May just go get an xray tomorrow.

Well I went to urgent care today and they took xrays and it ends up that I have a . Subluxation/ Dislocation of the Sternoclavicular joint. this sucks but I guess it could be worse. hopefully it will heal up fast. The doc said I could do some kind of laser thingy that would speed up the healing.

exactly, just take some time off for chest and when you do chest again in maybe a week go light and see how you feel. make sure you stretch it out too

oh... nevermind that sucks! remember it will just heal back even stronger than it was before! I've had 2 serious hamstring tears and numerous pulled muscles... took my legs 2 years to heal but they are now twice as big as they were before you'll be okay
