What do you guys think about Decline Bench?

    Hey all,

Like the title says, what do you guys think about decline bench? I rarely do it, and if I do, it's like 1 in every 10 chest days.

I feel that my pecs have a natural slope making my lower chest look bigger, that's my reason for not doing it.

    What are your thoughts?

I never do decline myself. I find my chest workout is doing the job without decline.

Decline hits the same part of your chest as flat bench, just puts more emphasis on your tri's, and takes some off of your shoulders...

    its unnecessary, IMO....

the shape of your chest is mainly genetic, and the growth of it is mainly diet and hitting your chest hard...

i like variety....thus incline / decline / flat all come into play...the more excersizes per muslce you can perfom ( not all in the same day offcourse :P ) the better your chances of keeping your muslcles guessing and not getting used to a given routine. so...yeah...do them once in a blue...cant hurt you.

Decline is good for finishing the job off on your chest,, when ur muscles are all fatigued (ie tris), u can rack on the weight on decline and still do a half decent amount of weight and just totally kill the chest.

i like decline cos i can usually go heavier than i would with flat

hardly ever use it though - unless someone is already using the dipping bars
its more of an ego lift for me

    IMO decline is stupid
i think dips are much more effective
even though decline does have its 1 PURPOSE thats to OVERLOAD because u decrease range of motion u can increase work load and help break platues on bench

Decline BB I don't like at all. Decline DB I can stand, not a huge fan of it tho. Dips and weighted dips I love, I find it much more effective than decline presses. Also low cable crossovers doing the job.
