    Pullups

I do 3 sets of pullups before every workout ... is this overtraining my back?

Hmmm, yeah like Audis said, post the workout. It would all depend on Your routine, I know if I did that, It would be over-training for me right there, because when I workout my back on my back day, I hit it so hard that I need 3 days for it to recover.

Leave pull-ups for back day. If you can do pull-ups that often then you're not hitting your back hard enough on back day.

    Post your routine

Unless you are doing pull ups for a specific reason like job related skills as the afore to mention states save it for back day .

Listen to your body, if you are at a plateu to were you cant move up in reps or wieght or you decrease then probably you are. But every body is variable from others. When i played baseball I did 3 sets of pull ups everyday before I pitched and it worked great for me. My buddy who was a monster and a half couldnt handle it.
