The Valsalva maneuver: is used with patients who have suspected heart abnormalities, often in conjunction with echocardiography. The maneuver is based on the fact that when a patient forcibly exhales against a closed nose and mouth while bearing down, as if having a bowel movement,(OR when Preforming Leg Press) specific changes occur in blood pressure and the rate and volume of blood returning to the heart.
This is especially amplified due to your head being at a lowered angle vs where it is when doing squats,
Ive also experienced this twice, it feels as if the pressure explodes in the back of your head neck and you feel light headed and your leg workout is done for the day,
You need to slowly exhale or give out a little grunt when the sled is at the bottom position, of the leg press and exhale fully at the top of the movement, this should help out a lot.
