    Cardio

I got a question bout my cardio. I do about 30 mins of cardio every morning on empty stomach.I use a a eleptical machine. I just wanted to know if it was ok to keep my heart rate from 127 going up high on a sprint on to 143 and then slowly decrease back to 127 and back up to 143?
Will this still keep me in a fat burning zone or do I have to keep my heart rate constant?
Dont know if my question makes any sence.
    Thanks in advance bros.

d e p ending on your age. You need to calculate your fat burning heart rate. If your 19 like me my max is around 200. 60-70% is 120 to 140. Anywhere in between 120-140 puts you in that range. Stay more toward the 140 mark if you want to burn excess cals. Going higher and lower wont do anything because the raise in the heart rate is insignificant. Refer to hiit training and that will give you more info about that. But just to make it short, for Hiit to be effective I would need to go from 120 or lowest to 190 or highest.

^^^^ NO NO NO, keep doing what your doing, Intervals of mod to high intensity is the best way in my opionion. You wouldnt do 3 sets of 10 reps for every exercise for 10 years straight, right, no cause your body would adapt, same works for cardio you also need to change it up......

in fact in last months issue of M&F (Yeah Yeah i know hustle and shitness is a better title) they talked about intervals being an effective way to increase your metabolizm and keep it at a higher rate PWO UP TO 12 HOURS! after cardio.

so DEFF, keep alternating and if you feel your burning up to much lean tissue back off a bit and do the traditional .7x220-age form.

Keep it up, summers almost here!

I just recently began doing hard core cardio work over the last month. Im coming back from a slap tear in my shoulder, and I gained a little winter weight (not much actual weight; I just got a little soft around my mid section).

Anyway... I have worked myself up to 45min of high intensity work on the Ski Machine. My target heart rate for cardio is 154 (thats what the machine says), so is it cool for me to work my way up to that target HR and stay at it throughout the workout? I feel my stomach starting to tighten, and the "V" lines are starting to come in (I keep a pretty clean diet). But I hear allot of people on here saying that ot is best to keep your HR around 60-70%?? Should I be slowing down on the machine?

the thing with staying at 60-70% of your max heart rate is you burn more fat then you do muscle

So basically...if I just hit the "Fat burn" button, instead of the "cardio" button... I should be good to go at that target heart rate?

some machines are different if it asks you to enter age and stuff like that then yes it will give you a target heart rate, just make sure you hold onto to heart rate sensors and stay at the number they tell you to

Yeah... i use one of those newer ones. I punch in my stats (age, weight) and then I select a program (I usually select Cardio). It gives me a target HR of 154.

If I select a fat burn program, it gives me a much lower heart rate.

Like I said; Im not trying to lose a bunch of weight, I just want to tighten my mid section back up for the summer.

^^^ then you probably should stick pretty close to "fat burn zone" but like I mentioned before intervals are a good way to break up the monatnity (sp) and keep your metabolizm boosted throughout the day.......

Im in the same boat as you mogamedogz, Im not trying to get ripped just want to look a bit tighter, so my cardio sessions are really easy, usually 45 mins at a brisk walk speed. (hey, its hard to talk to the chick next to me if im winded)

plus you remember what I said about carbs beforehand as well from your other post

    Sorry for the hyjack...
