    Cant do preachers curls =(

    Hey guys,

I cant do preacher curls. I started to get tendonitis (sp?) a few years ago in my forearms. I'm pretty sure I got it from trying to bench too much weight. Anyways, whenever i do preacher curls it kills that same spot. The pain is pretty mild-moderate when actually repping, but as soon as i put that bar down and let go GO DAMN its extremely painful. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem?

What are some good alternatives to preacher curls?

Yea man, it happens usually when u go heavy wks after wks...best idea is to lay off the preachers or do them single arm--that usually never hurts...

What helped me a lot with that problem was doing forearm isolation exercises with low weight and high reps.

i have the same exact problem, i also feel it in barbell military press, i skip preacher curls, and my bicep workouts are barbell curls standing, alternating dumbbell curls standing and hammer curls...
but i don't skip my military press on shoulders and i just don't go down to a certain point and i'm fine

Great advise, when I was a younger guy I worked for Larry Scott, as you may know he loved preacher curls (Scott curls) and he was a huge advocate of forearm curls, although he trained them very heavy with high reps (guy was a freak using upto 225lbs....no kidding).

    Oh my yes,

Id have to say that pain from doing heavy preacher curls, is the worst pain ive felt in the gym. Diffenetly stay away from them and allow it to heal.

When i had the problem, i would attack the lower bicep with one arm dumbell preachers (i did not have pain with these, although i did with the bar) and sitting or bent over dumbell curls (really stretch the bicep belly).

I remember, i thought i was fine to attack a good weight with preacher bar curls (after working up for a hell of a long time!), and as soon as hit harder wieght, i went right back to stage one of recovery! Diffenetly sucked, love me preachers
