    Two presses two laterals

With my chest workout I was told to do 2 presses instead of the 3 but whats the purpose of 2 presses and 2 laterals?

What I mean is why do people recommend doing 2 presses and 2 lateral movements for chest I mean why not 3 presses and 1 lateral it's just that when I was doing 3 presses for my chest I was told here that I should do only 2 presses but why surely you would gain more mass from the press movements rather than the lateral ones. Due to the additional weight you can do in the press movements

3 presses would in general be overkill for most. Flat press when done properly works the whole chest. Contrary to poular BB mythology inclining or declining the bench does not work different chest muscles, it works exactly the same ones but allows other muscle groups to come into play more (incline adds more delt). So in theory one could do flat bench for 3 - 4 good working sets and that would be your chest routine. However I'm sure none of us BBers would be satisfied so we chase the pump by adding other stuff!! It is a matter of personal choice I guess.
Most important thing is DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU!!

well said beast everyone is different when i first started i followed someone elses routine and as i learned i incorporated my own, something that worked for me. start with the basics and grow is basically what i done and chasing that pump is my problem on cycle i have to stop myself some days. ive been to the point and done 3 presses and 2 or 3 lat movements knowing its overtraining but that pump is my vice lol
