I have recently started running 3-4 times a week as I am joining the army and was just curious if this has any positive affects on building muscle.

I heard some cardio helps the healing of the muscles...
Cardio is an important part of the "bodybuilders" aresenal.
too many get scarred that they'll burn up ness calories when bulking, but you need that cardio endurance....
ever tried a hefty set of squats or deadlifts and found you were gasping for air like a fish outa water, cardio comes into play and the better conditioned you are the better you'll be able to recover during and right after intense sets.
also IVE HEARD, and maybe someone can shed some light that cardio helps the body metabolize protein more effencintly. I dont need to go into why thats important.
bottom line, even for the stick figure ecto whose trying to get "swoled up" cardio still should be done, obviously not as intense or as often as the 200+ soccer mom next to you. Everyone will need to find what works for them.
oh and as far as doing cardio for the army, Yeah, if your not a natural runner it is quite a rude awakeing, but dont worry to much about it. They're pretty much going to pound it in you and you should be lean and green by the end of it. (basic/AIT that is)
I had a real hard time putting on mass when I was the Army. I just couldn't seem to get over 180 lbs and I was doing a ton of high intensity cardio. That said, I have learned a lot since then. I was even doing cardio on my own when I wasn't lifting. I do think moderate amounts of cardio help to build muscle. ***ending on what kind of situation you get yourself into with the army, you could be running a lot or a little.
I was somehow always able to skip morining pt, and I was the unit's PT
