Unhappy Lower back is killing me!!!

I know this belongs on another forum but I want some responses so I'll work in a steroid question somewhere. In between working and deadlifting at the gym my lower back started killing me today at work. I was doing heavy labor and doing alot of bending over and my back started aching. The pain was unbearable!!! I had to leave early to go to the Doctor and he put me on disability for 2 weeks. He thinks the combo of deadlifting and work has strained my back muscles. I really like deadlifts, and I think they cannot be beat for building up raw strength, besides power cleans, but I guess I'll just have to stop doing them. Any help, also I heard certain steroids give you insane lower back pumps, does this hurt or help?

Bro, i know you don't want to hear the answer im going to give you...but rest is the best medicine. No juice is comparable to a good night's (week's), rest. Just take it easy on the deads for a while, and before you know it....

Now I will reply. Ok man you need to lay off. If your back is hurting that bad, you cannot keep pushing it. You need to watch your form when you are lifting things at work. If you aren't using all legs, then that is your problem. If you can get to a phsical therapist, go see one. They can give you exercises that I KNOW will help you beat this back pain.

    Thanks BB

    No Prob Jason

I have been suffering from a lower back injury recently and I have been having physio on it for at least a month and it is gradually getting better. For the last 2 months I have dropped deadlift and basically ANYTHING that involves my lower back.

My advise go the the Dr,s get it checked out and get it seen to.Mine was agony and I kept putting it of.Maybe if I had,nt it would be recovered by now.Without you back being 100% you are basically stuffed with everyday life.

If the pain is in the lower back stop doing deadlifts. Try resting and/or just light rack pulls to start. If the pain is in the lower lat then it is most likely a form problem. If the doctor said it was a muscle spasm then the latter is the case. You probrably have your sacroiliac joint at the bottom of your spine out of whack from improper form on deads, heavy shrugs, bent over dumbell rows or anything that puts weight on one side of the body and nothing on the other. Take it easy and take ibuprofen, lay down with head on the floor and bring the knee up to your chest one at a time slowly and strecth your lower back. You will be back to 100% no more than 2 weeks if this is the case. Go easy.

Not sure how old you are or but I gather you're pretty experienced. I've said this a gazillion times but you simply cannot perform high joint stress movements too frequently without a ton of rest. Most injuries come first from poor form and then from overuse. Let your back heal and begin thinking about increasing the amount of time between performing deadlifts, and other power movements that require massive back strength. Get well and be careful. OH and warm up real well.

DON'T FOOL AROUND WITH LOW BACK INJURIES!

Did your doc take an MRI? If not, and the pain persists, get one! Early diagnosis and could prevent a MAJOR problem down the road! Many docs will see an otherwise healthy, muscular male, and assume they are fine, and just have a muscle strain. They won't send you for an MRI. If your's won't, go to a different one!

If you have any pain radiating down your legs, that is a warning sign of a possible disc problem. You could have a minor disc bulge. If the bulge is large enough, or there is enough locallized swelling to push on a nerve, you will get radiating pain. If you have a small bulge, many times with rest, they will pull themselves back in. If you don't rest it, and allow it to heal, you could end up with a serious herniation, when the disc tears open. That can be crippling.... early diagnosis is the key. XRAYS don't show soft tissue. So don't let the doc tell you that there is no disc problem by looking at the x ray!

Thumbs up Listen to Titanium it's excellant advice

I'm just getting back to the weights after getting hurt at work last February. Hyperextended both knees, pulled both hamstrings & also tore the right a bit, sprained my left ankle. I was going through therapy and noticed when I was bending it felt like someone stuck an ice-pick in the left cheek of my ass. Pain down my left leg numb toes & sometimes fingers. Well the Dr. at work said there was nothing wrong with my back showed me the X-rays to prove it. The pain I would get was unbearable so I started searching online and called the Insurance Co. myself & got a referral to a specialist. After the MRI I found out I have 1 bulging & 2 herniated disks. I don't even want to see that douchebag company Dr. Get an MRI & make sure everything is O.K
B.T.W this is my first post & I hope it helps.
