I generally do 2 warm up sets first of 15 reps to get the blood pumping and then I increase the weight slightly do 8 reps to get me mentally focused for the heavy workout sets and I never go to failure warming up.

I stretch like a freak for about 15 mins every day as a basic.

Leg day i skip rope for 5 mins after my stretch.

Chest day i do some abs after my stretch.

I always put alot of blood in my shoulders (light shoulder raises at all angles) if im working anything on my upper body. This helps get any clicks out and makes everything run smooth.

I always do about 20 reps or so for a first set on any major muscle (not even close to failure enough to pump tho). I also do free lunges and ankle rotations everyday before my stretch. This is good for the tendons and blood flow.

Warm up sets are not rocket science the purpose is just to get some blood into the muscles that are about to be trained. If you are doing shoulders then do some light shoulder presses for some reps to get the blood flowing for a set or two. If you are doing chest then do a couple light sets of bench press to get the blood in there. For legs do some leg presses or hop on the bike for 5 minutes. Just warm up the muscles and get the blood running through them.

Petey it's proven to do cardio pwo because while you run that mile you aren't burning any fat or nothing, just wasting your glycogen stores, you should find another means to warm up prior to your workout

High reps light weight to the specific muscle group that will be worked out. Also some stretching to the same area. For legs I sometimes warmup for 10 min. easy on a stationary bike.
