thinking of trying a 2day split for a week

hey guys, i have been out of the game for about a year and a half. im finally done with school for a month and i was wondering if it would be alright to do upper body one day, lower body the next day, for about a week and a half. ive been doing my 4day split for 2 weeks, but im not getting anywhere near as sore as a used to.

I doubt changing the split will help. its intensity you need to work on if you feel you are not getting the most out of your gym time.

As PB stated, your intensity is what is lacking. IMO, low intensity is the culprit behind every "failed" workout.

Changing your split will do nothing to solve the problem at hand(especially the 2 day split you are thinking of switching to).

How did your 4 day split work for you before?

I agree, Im on a 4 day split BECAUSE of intensity, I used to train 6 and 5 days a week, sometimes i can only go three times cause my intensity is well, intense. I need those extra days to rest.

in this case less truly is more.

It really depends if you are on or off right now. While you're on, I wouldn't think it would matter. Now if your off it could be a good thing. Even full body is cool. High frequency training can be very effective. Remember you don't have to hit every angle on every workout. You can just do 1 move per major part, then hit it from a different angle another day and skip the isolation. Now if you are trying to tweak something so the size ratio between different muscles change to give you a better look for a contest, then you are going to need split with lots of isolation targeting whatever needs to get bigger. And that's better done on cycle anyway. Then of course if you are cutting, on or off, the more compound the better. Probably even more so off because you can't do 10 hours of cardio a week without loosing all you muscle. So you see it really depends on what you are tying to do.
