barbell curls & skull crushers... ez and straight bar

For me ez bars are better because I seem to be able to put more strength into the lift and it doesn't hurt my joints as bad... Is that how it is for you guys???

Yeah straight bars really hurt my wrist and put extra strain on my elbow's

With the ez bar I grip the inner part so that your palms are facing towards you and the back of my hand is facing away. No wrist pain with the ez bar but the elbows still hurt pretty bad on skull crushers

personally i feel i get a better overall workout when curling with the straight bar...while ez curl isolates certain heads better, i believe straight bar gives me a better overall workout

that being said, i cant do skull crushers without an ez curl bar my elbows and wrists cant handle it

I have no choice there because straight bars anhilate my wrists reguardless

I'm just about to start my 3rd go at IM's HIT routine, I think I'm going to switch out the barbell curls with dumbell curls this time around.

Now that I think of it, I havn't touched a dumbell in ages... Everything has been barbell (mil press, skull crushers, curls, bench, squats, bent over rows, etc, etc, you get the picture)

some things that you could modify is the range of motion on these exercises... I personally like doing 'skull crushers' on a slight incline and only work within the mid range, this will put less stress on your elbows and wrists

i love doing them on decline,,,,keep the weight manageable so u dont sway your shoulder carraige that much,,, i think that contributed to my current shoulder situation

when doing skull crushers flat incline or even decline...
do you sugguest getting the full range motion... example hold weight straight up and bring the bar way behind your head as far are possible and bring back
or bring the bar to your forehead.. or even lower like your lips, or way behind your head basically is what im asking...proper form for skull crushers...

and when doing dips does it matter keeping your back perfectly straight or maybe leaning foward ????

straight bar for me on bar curls. For skulls I use the ez bar. Just feels natural I guess. I hit skulls from flat bench and a decline bench. It just depends on my mood, and what I am going to do that day.

When doing skull crushers I use the flat bench and bring it down to your mouth area. That gives a full rom.

As far as dips I do lean a little but I keep my chin on my chest. Seems to help me hit the pecs better.
