    No Feeling In My Lat

I have been lifting for around four years and i don't think i've EVER felt a pump in my lats. I've tried different lifts and routines, but i have honestly NEVER felt anything. They've grown and i've gotten stronger, but i'm worried i'm not getting my full potential. Is this normal? I lift my chest for example, and i'm ALMOST always sore the next day, but never w/my lats. I've reviewed on the proper techniques for the exercises and i don't know if i'm doing something wrong, or if this is a normal thing for this muscle group (but idk why it would make a difference).....anyone else have this? is it normal? any advice if needed?

I use to try and show my gym partner how to do lats and i think a lot of its in the head. I think its natural for someone to grab the bar and pull with their bicepts which is wrong. When i grab the bar i try and use a "hook-like" grip as to not over use my bicepts. While in the movement i also picture my lats contracting while in the movement.

try weighted pull ups, and dont extend your elbows sometimes full rom is bs. if your seated try concentrating on pulling you elbows behind you and think about the origin and inseriton of your lats and rhombiods

ive been there too.. recently.. Theres a machine in some gyms.. thats a pulldown machine with seperate straps for each hand.. with pulleys.. I use that try and pull the handles out as wide as I can, (CONCENTRATE ON LATS).. and pull my elbows back behind me.. flexing your lats.. Since using this, ive seen my lats growing..

your lats are an enourmous muscle group, so they can withstand some seroius abuse and still not feel too sore the next day, especially if you've been doing the same back excersizes for quite some time. i had the same problem not too long ago, what worked for me was changing my routine up as well as constantly upping the resistance and consentrating on perfect form. for ex: instead of doing the machine lat pull-downs, i did weighted pull-ups with strict form and it did wonders.

I used to have the same problem. What i did was lighter weight and more repitions while focusing on the lat and almost trying to flare them while contracting. Do that for a while and eventually youll be able to lift heavy again but still get the nasty pumps.

by more reps i mean 10-20 range
