Anyone?
Hey man.
Well, I just did my back workout yesterday. I am sore as hell, especially my lower back from deadlifting etc.
There is no way I am even gonna try heavy squat with such pain in my back.
I always wait till it goes away, doing what I can in the mean time.
Cool! My lower back is straight it's just my lats that are hurting. I didn't want to mess with it's recovery!
I allways space out my back and leg days. My back still gets a little sore of leg days.
I always work my legs before back for that reason.
I spread my workouts for that exact reason...I like:
Day 1: Legs
Day 2: Chest / Shoulders
Day 3: REST
Day 4: Back / Traps / Calves
Day 5: Arms
Day 6: REST
Day 7: REST
This works for me, but everyone is different. I switch it up every few months - either changing some body part pairings or putting something else "first" in the week...right now quads are a priority...
I seperate squats and deads on different days with recovery in between. If my back is sore than I may skip a week of one or the other.
When my lower back is sore from deads I just stretch it out and warm it up a bit before doing some squats. I have horrible range of motion in my shoulders so I rarely do bar squats so I use the squat machine at the gym (no, not leg press... it is an actual hammer strength machine) and it takes a lot of stress off of my back as well.
Your lower back needs 2 days of rest before doing squats. End of story!
