Deadlift: Stiff Leg or Roman?
Help me settle this disagreement...what do most of you all do? Stiff Leg or Roman (bent knee) deadlifts.
I personally think I am recruit more muscle groups to assist with the Stiff Leg movement and therefore it is better but a workout partner disagrees...

Most deadlifts are also done with a lot of rounding of the upper back. This lets you move more weight, and the upper back is less injury prone than the lower.
The Roman Dead Lift is generally safer for the back than the Straight Leg Dead Left. It is done with a neutral spine, which is the position kindest to the disks. I guess you can use Romanian for general back & legs, straight leg for hamstrings & general back.

I only do stiff legged deads for lower back and hams, to train back I need to bend my knees because it's the only way to use more weight. Don't go heavy with stiff legged deads you can injure yourself.

Romanian is better because it puts a much greater load on the hamstrings, that way your lower back is not a weak link. So your lower back and hamstrings both get the correct amount of resistance.
