    Pull ups underhand grip

Are pull ups with an underhand grip good for developing your back or is it more for your biceps.

i havn't done underhand grip in a very long time
i find that you recruit more biceps using this grip then the others

theres nothing wrong with variety but i believe there are better options

both underhand and overhand work the back equally well. The difference in grip only effects the part of the arm which does the most of the assistance work. Overhand puts the forearm at a mechanical advantage so it does most of the assistance work, while underhand puts the biceps in a mechanical advantage. Switching off between grips during heavy back work is the best way to develop biceps and forearms.
