    cardio after workout

I have to be to work at 5:30 am, and my gym only opens at 5 so morning cardio is not an option. Is it ok to do my cardio each day after my workouts, or would that make me to catabolic?

Well I always thought about it myself, but I always thought you need a shake within 10 mins after your workout and never wanted to spend 30 mins doing cardio before i get my shake.
So if you do cardio after a work out for 30 mins then drink a shake will it be tat bad or ok?

there is nothing wrong with doing it afterwords, many people only do it this way. Just keep it to under 30 mins and keep you heart rate at 65-70%. I also take my BCAA right after w/o and before cardio

    Theres several factors to consider.

    1) The length of your workout. You cannot train with weights for an 1 hour and a half and then do cardio afterwards without becoming catabolic.

    2) You should avoid HIT and HIIT cardio when trying to build size-strength.

    3) You should never do cardio during a blasting phase (high volume training phase)

    4) You can do cardio post workout during a cruising phase (when you de-load the volume) given it's not after days you train the "lats" and "legs".

    5) You can do cardio post workout during a prime or cut.

I hope this clears things up a bit!

IDK Ive heard that when u workout a specific muscle group then do running itll burn more fat in the area that u worked out.
But then again I remember that the spot reduction theory was proved false
    Any thoughts on this?
But I try not to run on workout days...especially leg workout days
    But thats just me

Like fastlane said, I would not do cardio after leg day if you are doing a lot of volume.

All I'm sure about is if you want to burn more fat then do cardio after wkout. Least that's what I've always been told and read.

I lift between 45min-90min, then I speed over to the MMA studio and do a 50min Kickboxing class as cardio. I drink a shake immediately after KB and I am looking great

I've done cardio immediately before, well before, immediately after, and well after my lift workouts. I think it's all a matter of personal preference. I have to vary my schedule because my school schedule is ridiculous half the time. I would avoid cardio immediately before like the plague: it sucks the life out of your training in an absolute way and will ruin your day.

Doing cardio immediately after... I like actually. It works out some of my lactic acid. I just have to drink a shake with some carbs in it (not a lot, but some) during my last couple sets lifting and get a good drink of water before I jump into cardio. I also wouldn't exceed 1 hr lifting and 30 mins cardio back to back.

i just read a study in muscular development that says that cardio following your workout is just as effective if not a little bit moreso than cardio in the morning on an empty stomach.....as to your pwo nutriton i don't know what to think there.....my PT teacher tried to convince us that even if you took it between your workout and your cardio your body wouldn't digest it until after your done doing cardio.....so go fish

I'm just going off personal experience... I get really nauseated when I'm starving so having a shake between keeps me from puking over the front edge of the stair mill. That, and even if I'm not digesting it until after Cardio, it's immediately available afterward. I think it's a matter of what you feel works for you.

I'm so paranoid about losing an ounce of muscle... I'll keep it to in the AM on an empty stomach.

meh, if it's working for you then don't sweat it. it's different for everyone. i've done it immediately after without any nutrition/supps in between and i never had a problem either, other than that exhausted nauseated "why are you doing this to me" feeling in my stomach.
