Coffee ok? before my morning empty stomach cardio?

Sooo..im proposing coffee...is this OK before I run or does it defeat the purpose? I realize your body cant process coffee that fast but im sure the caffeine is processed realitively quickly..

    opinions? ideas?

as long as you're not injesting calories before morning cardio, a cup of coffee with some splenda will not harm you...and if drinking something gets rid of the drowsiness then go for it! But if you are sensitive to caffiene, your heart rate would be more difficult to monitor within the fat burning range for the speeds you are currently using.

absolutely!!! coffee helps get you going in the morn. My HR gets higher much quicker when I have a cup of joe for the morning cardio session.

How do you figure coffee doesn't get processed fast? it's pretty much water/caffeine and flavors. It gets absorbed fairly rapidly into your body. Even if you put suger in it, it's simple sugers that are readily available for your body to use as energy.

Caffeine stays active in you body anout the same lenth as an equal dose of Dbol....

"Caffeine is completely absorbed by the stomach and small intestine within 45 minutes of ingestion. After ingestion it is distributed throughout all tissues of the body and is eliminated by first-order kinetics.[29]

The half-life of caffeine—the time required for the body to eliminate one-half of the total amount of caffeine consumed at a given time—varies widely among individuals according to such factors as age, liver function, pregnancy, some concurrent medications, and the level of enzymes in the liver needed for caffeine metabolism. In healthy adults, caffeine's half-life is approximately 3–4 hours. In women taking oral contraceptives this is increased to 5–10 hours,[30] and in pregnant women the half-life is roughly 9–11 hours.[31] Caffeine can accumulate in individuals with severe liver disease when its half-life can increase to 96 hours.[32] In infants and young children, the half-life may be longer than in adults; half-life in a newborn baby may be as long as 30 hours. Other factors such as smoking can shorten caffeine's half-life.[33]"

caffeine and cardio is awesome. The only problem I have ever had is the late moring crash. I am NOT a morning person so this really sucks for me.
