Deads than Squats
All,
Kinda dumb question..
Did deads for the first time yesterday in a long time. Lower back is crushed.. good crushed that is..
My squat today is tomorrow... (took) today off..
Is it safe to say that I should think about not squatting tomorrow????

move it back a few days, that is a lot of work for your lower back muscles to recover from.

Put your back day at opposite ends of the week from your Leg day or at least 3 days apart from it. That is what I do. Working them to close together overloads your CNS to quickly.

I never do squats right after dead day. I space back and legs as far apart as possible.

I do deads on sunday chest monday tuesday off and legs on wednesday I find thats usally enough for my back to recover before squats unless it was an extra brutal deadlift day..

1) When training each bodypart twice a week you can do them both on the same day like natural sux suggested.
2) When training each bodypart once a week it's best to put your back day at opposite ends of the week from your leg day like RoaringMadMac suggested.

I have found Training Volume to be the determining factor here. With lower volume bodybuilding routines and/or power-lifting you'll do best by putting squats and deadlifts in the same workout like Doc Sust suggested.
When performing higher volume bodybuilding routines you'll do better splitting them up. Trying to do dead-lifts after 10-12 intense work sets for quads can be a disaster.Last edited by Ronnie Rowland; 01-27-2008 at 07:41 PM.

Well I made the mistake of going in tonite on an empty stomach and that in itself was a disaster. I was in a rush cause I had my wife and daughter with me. After 4 sets of squats I was done. I had big plans to do deads and then maybe some cleans but all that went out the window.

Everyone is different. Play with a few of these diff opinions and see what works for you.
