    Pain from curling bar

Since last year I been having problems with my forearm when using the curling bar between my elbow and wrist. I get a sharp pain only after I put the weight down .. Feels like I put a lot of stress on the bone. Almost to the point where it could fracture ...

I even lowerd the weight down to something light, about 40lbs and it still happens ...

Has anyone had this problem ?
Do you know what it could be ?

I'm almost 40 years old but this is the only bottle neck I have as far as my training is concerned ... I don't have this problem in any other area.Dumbell curls, Presses, Dead lifts are all fine.

I cut it out of my routine for more than 6 months, but again yesterday it happened ...I know it's not going to break but it sure feels close to it ..

    Any advice ?

Focus on your mind, muscle connection between your biceps and your brain. Concentrate on not squeezing so hard on the bar, and only using your biceps to move the weight. Only keep your bi's flexed, everything else relaxed. That could help.

    Me too..
It must have something to do with my form because I can use the hammer strength machine for simulated bar curls and it doesn't hurt nearly as much ...

i get the same thing. i actually stopped using the ez curl bar and started using just a regular barbell. pain has stopped. so i guess its in the ergonomics of the bars.

I do get the same thing.

I noticed that it is all about angle of your writ when you are holding the bar.

Straight bar is the best one to test out... trying closer and wider grips.. I was actually able to find the grip when I can even curl 135Lbs and it wont hurt, well a little bit, but thats a very heavy weight for me. So when dropping to 115 I am fine.

Also, EZ curl bars, they are not all the same... the angle that the bar slopes up and down where your grips are is not the same on all.

You might wanna try different bars.

Also, over time as you get stronger, the pain tends to go away... as you are strong enough to handle it w/o pain...

Just what I think and what I noticed.

I would love to hear some more on this too...

P.S. As Perfect Beast said, I do the same thing.. after last rep when I put the bar down I release very slowly so the pain is not sharp as when you let it go right away.

Its a type of strain.. i had it.. it typically happens when using the curling bars because your not in a free range of motion so it creates stress in certain ports of your hand or forearm... I Suggest if it gets really bad rest don't curl for a while or switch to DB's tell it fully recovers...
P.S. i use to get the strain on my wrist switched to DB's for awhile healed and i alternate now with db and bb
