    Ok is this overtraining?

my friend is trying this new workout..i personally think its overtraining..what do you guys think

with every workout he does 1-2 body parts once a week
usually 3-4 exercises per body part with 7 sets per exercise
but his reps go like this 14,12,10,8,6,4,2..obviously he does enough weight so he can finish each exercise...what do you guys think??
chest workout goes like flat bench, incline dumbells, flys and then some other chest exercise...

You forgot the most important thing: how many days a week?

24 sets is overkill for sure. Have him cut back to 12 sets once a week.

Well overtraining should not be used as a term to how many sets a person is doing.

One with very good genetics can get away with ALOT, i tell you ALOT of sets per musclegroup.

I friend of mine with superior genetics can go all day, sleep 6 hours, going to work all day long and grow like a beast, and all natural.

To see what "overtrains" you, keep a very detailed journal of sleep, eat, rest, sets, reps, bodyweight, body measurements and such, and you'll see if your body is'nt able to coap with the stress.

The only one who can tell you that your overtraining is yourself, nobody else.
    Go at it.

It all depends on the intensity. Yea overtraining can be a hard thing to figure out, I thought I may have been overtraining I took a week off, except my lifts went down instead of going up, which they are supposed to if your overtraining.(go up that is)
