I don't deadlift
I've never deadlifted in my life, and I have decent size.
I have done, and love stiff legged deads.
I'd like to know what I'm missing out on?
I'm starting tomorrow!

I just started back up with doing deadlifts bout 2 months ago. I dont think im giving them up again as they are so beneficial with building your lower back/glutes/hamstrings. I beleive they are just as essential as squats.

I will be adding them back into the routine soon. I have been focusing more on upper back development lately.

Read this:
are deadlifts and squats important
He may do them off and on, but as far as his normal, typical back workout, he does not do them. He says so in that thread, not to mention him and I talk via PM.
They are a good exercise though. Great compound movement.

yeah deadlifts are benificial but you need to really have great form. you can F up you lower back. so start off with some lighter weight untill you get your form down then start going heavy.

my body was made to deadlift, lol. seriously though, i got a strong back and long arms and that really seems to help. i have also been told the best part of my back is my lower back.

Deads are awesome, I can really tell the difference if I leave them out on a back day. If I do I am not anywhere near as tired later that night, or sore days later. they are THE great whole body lift IMO. I do them every back day and don't plan on stopping.
Also they sure help the grip so don't use straps!

For a good 18 months I was deadlifting pratically every week without doing squats. I think Deads are really beneficial but I would have been a few times better off squating all that time and not doing d eads.. or even better both!

I never use straps, only chalk and a belt when I get above 500lbs and holy hell, my forearms sure take a pounding!!
If dead really heavy one week, I will usually take that next week off and just hit squats.

I never did them either. I have a lower back injury. I'll never do them...

I don't think deads replace squats, but they are definitely a great exercise and can really put on some overall mass in the back area. With that said, I've definitely burnt myself out doing heavy deads for weeks, so it's something I do on and off.

i only use straps on the heavy sets. i think its a mental thing but it feels lighter with straps on, and i dont mean just on the forearms.

If done correctly, they are are great way to increase overall mass. I must say, it's crucial that your form is spot on.

Green22 is a great exap. If you look in his Avy, Notice how his lumbars and Erector spinae is thick and pronouced. Probably due to deads and some degree maybe squats as well.
another great example is Melvin Anthony. His Back is super wide and has great detail but when you get to where is erectors are he is really flat. Melvin (as far as what ive read about him) is not a fan of deads. I think until recently he just added rack pulls.
kind of a far fetched idea but you get the point.
As for me, I used to deadlift but got injured due to bad form/ego. I can still do rack pulls and really try to make up the difference but I miss em.

I threw up doing deads before, then again I think I had ate too close to my workout, and it was hot.

They hammer the posterior chain which is the most important muscle group to have developed for everyday life IMO.

I enjoy deads but lately my grip seems to be the first to give out.. I don't want to exclusively use straps but It seems to me limiting my deadlift workouts. Maybe put them on for the last 1 or 2 sets.

I heard that even arms are affected by deads.
Im going to give them a shot...
but there are different styles of the deadlift.
Sumo or non sumo
And for leg day, straight legged deads.
Should I go sumo or not?
