I was wondering what would be some very efficient exercise for getting the neck muscles working. One in particular would be the sternocleidomastoid.
I got a nice head harness for my neck.
Let's hear it.

Deadlifts, seated DB shrugs, snatches.
Deads and drop sets with dumbell shrugs are my favorite.

If you don't know what you're doing then don't attempt it unless there's someone watching you who knows what's going on with olympic lifts. It's dangerous and with inefficient form, it will not be too useful.
Boy that looks like a hard excercise, don't think I'll try that at home
But thanks for that information!
I use to just rap a 25lb plate up in a towel, lay on my side with my head hanging off the end and put the plate over my ear, then just flexion and extention. also can be done on the forehead and back of head. works pretty good.
I have a rope that i tie a 25pound plate 2. I just bite on it and move my neck up and down. works almost like a head collar used for neck exercises.
i have a 4 way neck machine in my house. i dont know what to tell ya
try wrestling bridges, but be careful with them. dont to the one where ur forehead touches the ground and ur bent over backwards. that one my chiropracter said may have given me arthritus in my neck. its asymptomatic but still showed on the x rays. she said it may have also been from getting punched in the head
I have a neck harness, works great.
You should check into one

yep, I was gonna say to get a neck harness too. Also, in our gym we have a 4-way neck machine. I love it.
It actually works better than the harness in my opinion, because with the harness, you can pretty much only curl your neck up to work the back of the neck. With the 4-way neck machine, there are setting to work the back, front, left and right side.
