after a leg day i have been sore for about 6 days, just enough time to do legs again...lol
it usually happens when i change a workout or increase the volume or weight in my workouts
its rare to have happen every workout, but after a year off its completly understandable

If your just getting back into resistance training after a year. Your body see's this new stimulus as a novel stress. Meaning after 3 months of of training your body has completely lost all its adaptations to exercise. In comparison when you stop aerobic training it takes as little as a week to lose the increased amount of aerobic enzymes that were built up due to training. In a couple weeks or so you should start getting progressively less and less sore.

after my injury i was laid up for about 5 monthes . about the 4th month i got alot of deep tissue massages (not the asian...me love you long time kind...although i would have been nice)
they hurt like hell at first but after about 2 weeks (two massages a week) the pain was not as bad and by the 2nd month i was good.
my muscles nice and relaxed the gym was not that bad.Last edited by meloyelo7337; 01-15-2008 at 10:36 PM.

Totally normal. As you get back into the routine your soreness shouldn't last as long.

Give it some time. Soreness is basically your muscles ripping and growing to adapt to the fatigue it is put under. I personally wouldn't work a group again until the soreness subsides to the point where I won't be in PAIN anymore. That is your body telling you to take it easy and slow it down.

Well that means your doing something right!!! if you get sore good!!! you train a particular muscle group once a week you usually stay sore until next workout. Tearing muscle=sore give it 4-5 days to recover then you should be stronger by next workout.
