Tricep pulldowns lats taking to much load

has anyone ever noticed when they are doing triceps pulldowns that they can feel there lats working? I know that you want to isolate the triceps but for some reason i can never seem to take my lats out of the equation. I do usually do them last when they are pumped and fatigued but still.

If your elbows are in front of your shoulders when you are doing your pushdowns you will use your lats.

If you keep your elbows in the same plane or slightly behind your shoulders, you will not use your lats....keep your elbows in line with your shoulders!

Yeah simple, drop the weight. You obviously cant do the pushdown with the tri's alone at the weight you are using.

The lats will have to be activated in order for the long head of the tricep to be activated. Nothing you can do unless you do not want the long head to fire.

well it makes sense that even if you are using perfect form with the elbows locked tight at the side and not moving that your lats would have to do at least some work because they would be the muscle responsible for keeping the arms in place.

Do this exercise facing the other way, with your back pressed against the machine. This will stop you leaning over or trying to push down on the weight which is what brings your back into play.

Agreed with dropping the weight a little and working on getting the correct form/muscle memory down.

Also, I get a much better pump using good controlled form than I do when I decide to go a little too heavy add a plate to the stack of weights.

If he is doing "pulldowns" as mentioned that IS a lat exercise. Maybe he meant to say pressdowns.

as mention above keep elbows at side and when you press down, and come back up for the negative only come to where your elbow bends at a 45 dont let your hands come all the way back up any higher

Get on your knees. Seriously. Drop the weight, do the movement while kneeling. It helps isolate the tris. I used to use crap form by leaning over the weight when I got tired. This brings a lot of other muscles into play.
