yes, main focus of exercise is chest. tri and shoulders are helpers. you can vary grip to focus on tris more as well.

holding your body different and your grip can work either chest or tri/shoulders more. you will feel the diff realy quick once you do a weighted set or two

i love dips, great for lower chest development, i use a gravitron(aided pullup/dip) and put my calves behind the support bar to focus on triceps

for chest i do weighted dips with 90-100pounds on a chain, great exercise

I do them on tricep days. I used to do dips with heavy weights, but I found it was hurting me in the shoulders, so I only do bodyweight dips for sets of 10. I do them at the end of my workout and do 5 or 6 sets of 10 very slow and strict.

Chest. It's great if your arms day is like 3 days following chest, then you can adjust your grip and hit it again.

You can do them for both.

    Chest:
Lean forward, wider grip, and go deep.

    Tri:
    More straight up/down, closer grip.

When i am doing dips for the pecs I always tuck my chin in close and keep my legs straight, then for tris I look up straight ahead and cross my feet behind me, I get better focus on each muscle that way. I can tell a big difference.

I'm with DSM...Try and get as parallel to ground as possible with a wide grip to hit the chest.

I finish my chest wortout with dips superset with dumbell pullovers.
