I havent used it but I have seen the infomercial. It seems like an excellent program to getting you cardiovasculary fit and shed lots of fat. It prolly is possible to gain some size with it as well. I dont believe it to be much size, but if you are starting at nothing you will get bigger. Some of the guys they show using it look like the same guys used in the bowflex commercial lol. So kinda hard to believe they didnt do any regular bobybuilding training outside of the p90x training with heavy weights.

I have it and will be starting it up new again on Monday. I hate the yoga part and do not do it because I think yoga is bunk.
I know some people who like the ab workout but I must do it wrong because I only feel it in my lower back. I like the regular abripper 200 workout better and will most likely stick with that.

Much like any sound exercise program, if you adhere to it you will get results from it.

my wife bought it. she did it a few times and now it sits on a shelf. it did kick her butt when she did it.
actually, that was part of the problem with it--she could not motivate herself to do it by herself b/c it was pretty hard. she has no problem kicking her own butt in various classes at the health club, but doing it at home has not been her strong suite.

i'll be interested to hear your experiences. i would think if you are lifting with your team as well as doing P90X you might be running into some over-training issues.

You should post some pics and keep a log if possible. I think a lot of people will be really interested, as P90X seems to pop up every few weeks. Adding the cycle will also increase interest. I know I am interested to see how it goes

I am also interested in how a cycle works after doing this. Maybe I will do this instead of my normal work out while on cycle.

Great exercise program to confuse the body from your normal routine... I did this 6months straight on hgh before messing up my left shoulder. Went from 13.7% to 8.3%, doing this program religiously everyday along with a strict diet. After my shoulder injury, I took a month off and began doing this with minor-to-no weights at all! I lost some size but I became extremely cut/hardened on this program. Of course, I was doing Test Prop/Winstrol /Hgh but those three are nothing if your diet/workout routine sucks or you are not extremely disciplined.
-
I'm looking forward to starting this in a couple months.
Can one gain weight while doing this?
-
I don't think so. I've been dropping in on the p90x class twice a week for a while now at my gym and I'm dropping a lot of fat. You would have to tweak it to the point where you're taking in a lot of calories because you'll drop some weight. I can't believe how much of a boost it's been giving me while semi-cutting (holiday cheating) and I'm not even following the everyday routines...yet. I may start it up and see if I can do the 90 days just to see what it does for me.

I've wondered the same thing. I think you'd have to take in a ton of calories, and probably alter the exercises to use heavier weights and less reps, but depending on where you are at when you start you might be able to add a bit of very lean mass while burning some BF.
I do not think a more advanced physique would benefit much from this program, at least not appearance wise. Conditioning-wise I think you'd get a huge cardio and muscular endurance benefit, but probably regress in strength and power.

Yeah, I am sort of waiting on the sidelines on trying this thing. That is why I am so interested in hearing the results of guys who want to try it in an attempt to add mass, especially if they have their diet tweaked and are getting artificial help. It could be a very interesting experiment . . .

P90X comes with a Diet guide, specifically designed to help you accomplish your goals whether that is lose fat, maintain current weight while getting strength/increasing cardio resistance, or just burn fat (the main reason why most people use it for).
I believe that if you have a diet that meets or slightly exceeds your caloric intake, especially your Protein/Carb intake cals, then I don't see why you or anyone else would not gain lean, quality mass while on a P90X routine.
I shredded a lot of fat and lost some muscle mass due to a shoulder injury. But I'm sure I would've been able to increase my lean body mass significantly, if I had not gotten injured. Remember, diet is a very important factor in determining if you lose mass, if you burn fat and don't get mass, or if you burn fat and increase lean mass at the same time.Last edited by "Maximus"; 01-08-2009 at 11:17 AM.

Let me tell you P90x will get you ripped! No joke! You will do more pull ups and push ups then you have ever done in your life!! I started the program I'm 5'10 195lbs 15%BF
In the first 60 days I dropped 17lbs down to 178lbs!! ....Now wait!!... in the next 50 days (two weeks of recovery after the 90 day program) I gained 25lbs of muscle NO SH*T!!! I started with 15" arms and now I've got 17" Arms!! I used Creatine and L-Arginine Powder(nasty tasting stuff!) Everyone swore I was Juicing!!
I'm now 211lbs 8-9% BF doing YogaX, Plyometrics, twice a week to stay fit but I think I've hit my limit. I've never done any steroids But am now considering a cycle of test and deca . My buddies swear it will add another 15 to 20 lbs.
I'll tell you I've worked my ass off to get were I am, and really never considered doing any steroids until now. I've done some research on PCT I'm still a little unsure. My Best friend has been trying to get me to do this for years and is gonna give me the stuff for free... I dunno any thoughts??

I lost about 30 lbs on my own before I started P90X, and it got me over my hump and lost another 10lbs in the first 3 weeks. It is TOUGH, yoga SUCKS, worst part is its 90 minutes, if it was an hour, OK, sometimes I just do the first hour of yoga, sometimes I supplement it for one of the other cardio DVDS. Its FUN, Its TOUGH, and it takes time. I still lift 3 days a week. I am a big guy, so I cant do a pull up, so I use a chair to help, but after 3 weeks my back days in the gym have changed a LOT, lifts just JUMPED up! HA! From FREAKIN PULL UPS IN MY BASEMENT! Who woulda thought!
Download it! :-) I DId, and I dont regret the ... $8 in DVD's I burned it on! :-)

Here are some before and after pics from a while back, I did it a while back after not stepping foot in a gym for about a year because of an injury. Towards the end I added additional cardio and did most of the arms/chest/back stuff in a gym (using the same circuit method to keep my heart rate up) to get some better gains. I was about 80% clean as far as my diet went and supplemented with whey/l-glutamine and a little creatine.
